Watching a loved one endure chronic pain is truly heartbreaking. Throughout my childhood, I witnessed my mother's ongoing battle with migraines, and it compelled me to find a way to alleviate her suffering. Little did I know that this instinct to use my hands as a source of relief would set me on a lifelong journey as a healer.
My passion for massage therapy grew during my time studying acting in college. As I delved deeper into understanding the intricacies of anatomy and movement in relation to theatrical performance, I realized the immense potential I had to help my fellow actors improve their instruments (body, voice, and mind) for the stage. However, due to the constraints of being a full-time student pursuing two different passions, this idea had to be temporarily set aside.
Fast-forward to the pandemic, a time when many of us reevaluated our careers. It was then that a dear friend, who had earned their massage license, shared their journey through school and professional practice with me. It finally dawned on me that life would never present the perfect timing to pursue my dream. It was time to make it happen.
For two years, my life was a balancing act. I worked full-time during the day, attended massage school and completed my internship in the evenings and weekends, and even took on a part-time job at a spa after earning my license. All of this was happening while planning my own wedding and preparing for a move. Through self-care and the unwavering support of my loved ones, I persevered.
During that transformative time, I had the privilege of meeting the owner of The Houston Center for Taekwondo. We explored the possibility of me opening my own studio in a spare room within the school when I was ready. When I finally took him up on his offer, it turned out to be the perfect opportunity for me to launch my own business and fulfill my dream of becoming a full-time private practitioner. Thus, RuLu Massage was born!
At RuLu Massage, my vision is to provide a truly personalized treatment plan for each client, utilizing all of my tools and skills. I want my clients to feel empowered to experience a combination of modalities and enhancements that I have to offer. Gone are the days of additional costs hindering the full benefits of a session. When you are on my table, every session will be unique. I deeply value listening to your body's needs and bringing creativity into our sessions to enhance your overall well-being.
